Pam Zsori (owner of this delicious store and  blog Housemartin) led us through wax flowers and cherry blossoms as we each built our own creation. It was so fun.

Cartola (our local coffee spot) makes a fantastic cup – and they even made the foam look like a pumpkin. Love them.

I feel like I’m riding the most beautiful bicycle ever made (bought it at Clever Cycles, it’s called the Oma). I love having Nadia up front – we sing and point to trees, dogs and wave at people. It’s a lot of fun.

There are what? Eight million people in New York and so eight million people to point at. Not to mention the dump trucks, yellow cabs and whatnot along the streets. Nadia digs New York. And who can blame her?

Over the past few days we’ve toured the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (which is excellent) with Uncle Paul (he’s really tall – sorry for cutting off your head!) and Aunt Janis.

Then, on to  Brooklyn for dinner with cousins at Applewood (delicious and kid-friendly).

Next day: Times Square was especially interesting. With billboards vying for our attention, people queueing for tkts, tkts, tkts and a sort of art installation meets kindness with a city block closed to traffic and instead lined  with lawn chairs for tourists to take a seat. So we did.

And who did we meet? A guy from Portland. No kidding. Turns out, he lives in our neighbourhood. Crazy world, non?

After a day of touring (and wiping snot from Nadia’s nose since she caught something on the plane, developed a fever and all the associated fun that comes with a baby cold), we grabbed dinner at Market in Midtown.

Then my friend Wendy and I jumped on the subway to Soho. And of course being New York, we stumbled right onto Tina Fey and Steve Carell’s new movie, Date Night.

We gawked a bit. Saw their stand-ins. Got bored. And left to have a drink at Fanelli’s. A great day. Tomorrow? The Children’s Library and the MOMA. (Maybe.) It’s all up to Nadia.

So now life gets more….hmmm…mobile. The day after her first crawls, she pulled herself to a stand. We were at the coast visiting friends. Amazing. Next week, she’s off to college. 

And tomorrow we’re off to New York City. And now, I’m off to bed.

We prepped the garden for tomatoes and herbs – I can’t wait to plant. And for down time, we went to our local park to swing. So much fun!

I’ve used the Moby, which is great when Nadia was teeny tiny and is also wonderful for nursing on planes and while walking. I’m going to continue to use it. But it’s not always simple to get on and go and I’m not convinced I could do really long treks with it.

We also use the Bjorn (a wonderful hand-me-down and has been great). But I find it puts too much pressure on my shoulders and back so I make Kieran wear it – he’s big and doesn’t mind. 

My chiropractor reccomended the Ergo. Excited to go on our first spring hike with it.

I especially like to combine these tops with fun scarves. They’re cute, cover me up and Nadia likes to play with them too.

We dined at Wongs King Seafood for dim sum, which was absolutely delicious, fast-paced and kid-friendly. I think we all got caught up in saying “yes!” to every dish that wheeled by. The sesame balls were my favorite. 

Then on to Hawthorne Vintage  to browse mod furniture, cutesy retro kitchenware and lighting. Popped over to Porque No (which now has a location on SE Hawthorne as well as its spot on NE Mississippi) for a margarita on the patio and then back home for some homemade chocolate cake.
